You are my waking thought, my evening prayer

as husband, wife and friends.

My morning routine

I didn't want to wake you
as I left the house today
I thought, "just one kiss will do"
and then I'll be on my way

But as I turned so as to leave
after kissing you on the cheek
I found it harder & harder to breath
and thought another kiss I could sneak

and then, before I knew it
I'm kneeling by your side
thinking, "man I blew it"
there's no reason now to hide

So kisses turn to whispers
and fingers through your hair
slowly you begin to stir
and find me kneeling there

There is nothing good about goodbye
even if it's just for the day
tomorrow I promise I will try
to go quietly on my way
